  45 <h3><em>Statement of Purpose</em></h3>
  46 <p>The laws of most jurisdictions throughout the world
  47 automatically confer exclusive Copyright and Related Rights
  48 (defined below) upon the creator and subsequent owner(s) (each
  49 and all, an "owner") of an original work of authorship and/or
  50 a database (each, a "Work").</p>
  51 <p>Certain owners wish to permanently relinquish those rights
  52 to a Work for the purpose of contributing to a commons of
  53 creative, cultural and scientific works ("Commons") that the
  54 public can reliably and without fear of later claims of
  55 infringement build upon, modify, incorporate in other works,
  56 reuse and redistribute as freely as possible in any form
  57 whatsoever and for any purposes, including without limitation
  58 commercial purposes. These owners may contribute to the
  59 Commons to promote the ideal of a free culture and the further
  60 production of creative, cultural and scientific works, or to
  61 gain reputation or greater distribution for their Work in part
  62 through the use and efforts of others.</p>
  63 <p>For these and/or other purposes and motivations, and
  64 without any expectation of additional consideration or
  65 compensation, the person associating CC0 with a Work (the
  66 "Affirmer"), to the extent that he or she is an owner of

  68 to apply CC0 to the Work and publicly distribute the Work

  72 <p><strong>1. Copyright and Related Rights.</strong>

  74 copyright and related or neighboring rights ("Copyright and

  85 <li>rights protecting against unfair competition in regards
  86 to a Work, subject to the limitations in paragraph 4(a),
  87 below;</li>
  88 <li>rights protecting the extraction, dissemination, use and
  89 reuse of data in a Work;</li>
  90 <li>database rights (such as those arising under Directive
  91 96/9/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11
  92 March 1996 on the legal protection of databases, and under
  93 any national implementation thereof, including any amended
  94 or successor version of such directive); and</li>
  95 <li>other similar, equivalent or corresponding rights
  96 throughout the world based on applicable law or treaty, and
  97 any national implementations thereof.</li>
  98 </ol>
  99 <p><strong>2. Waiver.</strong> To the greatest extent
 100 permitted by, but not in contravention of, applicable law,
 101 Affirmer hereby overtly, fully, permanently, irrevocably and
 102 unconditionally waives, abandons, and surrenders all of
 103 Affirmer's Copyright and Related Rights and associated claims
 104 and causes of action, whether now known or unknown (including
 105 existing as well as future claims and causes of action), in
 106 the Work (i) in all territories worldwide, (ii) for the
 107 maximum duration provided by applicable law or treaty
 108 (including future time extensions), (iii) in any current or
 109 future medium and for any number of copies, and (iv) for any
 110 purpose whatsoever, including without limitation commercial,
 111 advertising or promotional purposes (the "Waiver"). Affirmer
 112 makes the Waiver for the benefit of each member of the public
 113 at large and to the detriment of Affirmer's heirs and
 114 successors, fully intending that such Waiver shall not be
 115 subject to revocation, rescission, cancellation, termination,
 116 or any other legal or equitable action to disrupt the quiet
 117 enjoyment of the Work by the public as contemplated by
 118 Affirmer's express Statement of Purpose.

 120 <p><strong>3. Public License Fallback.</strong> Should any
 121 part of the Waiver for any reason be judged legally invalid or
 122 ineffective under applicable law, then the Waiver shall be
 123 preserved to the maximum extent permitted taking into account
 124 Affirmer's express Statement of Purpose. In addition, to the
 125 extent the Waiver is so judged Affirmer hereby grants to each
 126 affected person a royalty-free, non transferable, non
 127 sublicensable, non exclusive, irrevocable and unconditional
 128 license to exercise Affirmer's Copyright and Related Rights
 129 in the Work (i) in all territories worldwide, (ii) for the
 130 maximum duration provided by applicable law or treaty
 131 (including future time extensions), (iii) in any current or
 132 future medium and for any number of copies, and (iv) for any
 133 purpose whatsoever, including without limitation commercial,
 134 advertising or promotional purposes (the "License"). The
 135 License shall be deemed effective as of the date CC0 was
 136 applied by Affirmer to the Work. Should any part of the
 137 License for any reason be judged legally invalid or
 138 ineffective under applicable law, such partial invalidity or
 139 ineffectiveness shall not invalidate the remainder of the
 140 License, and in such case Affirmer hereby affirms that he or
 141 she will not (i) exercise any of his or her remaining
 142 Copyright and Related Rights in the Work or (ii) assert any
 143 associated claims and causes of action with respect to the
 144 Work, in either case contrary to Affirmer's express Statement
 145 of Purpose.</p>
 146 <p><strong>4. Limitations and Disclaimers.</strong></p>

 148  <li>No trademark or patent rights held by Affirmer are
 149 waived, abandoned, surrendered, licensed or otherwise
 150 affected by this document.</li>
 151 <li>Affirmer offers the Work as-is and makes no
 152 representations or warranties of any kind concerning the
 153 Work, express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including
 154 without limitation warranties of title, merchantability,
 155 fitness for a particular purpose, non infringement, or the
 156 absence of latent or other defects, accuracy, or the present
 157 or absence of errors, whether or not discoverable, all to
 158 the greatest extent permissible under applicable law.</li>
 159 <li>Affirmer disclaims responsibility for clearing rights of
 160 other persons that may apply to the Work or any use thereof,
 161 including without limitation any person's Copyright and
 162 Related Rights in the Work. Further, Affirmer disclaims
 163 responsibility for obtaining any necessary consents,
 164 permissions or other rights required for any use of the
 165 Work.</li>
 166 <li>Affirmer understands and acknowledges that Creative
 167 Commons is not a party to this document and has no duty or
 168 obligation with respect to this CC0 or use of the Work.</li>
